http://www.maineenergyinfo.com/oil/index.html http://www.mainegasprices.com Effective October 9, 2007 the Office of Energy Independence and Security (OEIS) survey of home heating oil prices today found the current statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil to be unchanged since last week at $2.69 per gallon but $0.48 higher than last year at this time. This price is comparable to the price of B-5 bio-heat which is also $2.69/gallon currently. It is important to note that the price for heating oil is a statewide average and that prices in a given geographic region of the state may be considerably higher or lower than the statewide average. Within the OEIS sample, the lowest actual heating oil price of $2.40 per gallon was found in the southwest while the high-end price of $2.86 per gallon was found in the western region. The price of WTI crude oil surpassing the $80.00 per barrel mark is a major driver of refined product prices, including heating oil. As of September 28th, New England heating oil inventories stood at 12,528 thousand barrels, or 1,235 thousand barrels less than last year at this time. This average price for propane represents the price per gallon for a 600-800 gallon domestic heating application. As of September 28, 2007, U.S. propane inventories, while in the upper limits of the average range, are entering the heating season at their lowest level since 1996.
