  • Maine Employment Curriculum
    The Maine Employment Curriculum (MEC) Implementation Project is designed to build the capacity of community rehabilitation providers to enhance and promote meaningful career options for individuals with disabilities in Maine by ensuring that job coaches and employment specialists have knowledge and skills in best practice employment supports.
  • Saco River Education
    From their website: "Saco River Education is a comprehensive online training, tracking, and management tool that fits well into health care facilities. Our program allows for the continually mandated education of direct care workers as well as other professionals in several fields, with minimum interruption in daily life." They offer online PSS training, but Maine PASA does not endorse this training nor do we have information about cost. Please contact Saco River Education for more information.

  • Maine Alzheimer's Association
    The Maine Alzheimer's Association works to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research and to enhance care and support for individuals, their families and caregivers. This site offers information on support groups, training opportunities and local services.
  • OHI
    OHI is an agency in Bangor/Brewer that offers a wide range of affordable trainings in many areas. OHI non-profit corporation that supports people with disabilities to live productively in their communities.

 

Healthcare

  • Dirigo Health Plan
    The Dirigo Health Plan is a component of the Dirigo Health Reform Act. Enacted with significant bipartisan support in the Legislature and signed by Governor Baldacci in June 2003, the Dirigo Health Reform Act is a market-based solution to address rising health care costs, improve quality of care, and provide access to coverage for Maine's uninsured.
  • Consumers for Affordable Health Care Foundation
    Find information about action alerts about current health care legislation in Maine! This site also offers information about affordable options for health care coverage. Maine PASA is a member of the Consumers for Affordable Health Care Foundation. We actively work with this group and others to advocate for affordable health care for the direct care workforce and for all Maine people.

 

Self Advocacy

  • AccessMaine
    AccessMaine is a site designed to assist Mainers with disabilities, their families, and providers. There is lots of information here that is useful to employers, educators, researchers, and the general public.
  • Alpha One
    Alpha One supports people with disabilities on several levels (i.e., advocacy, personal assistance services, information and referral). They have designed their website to give people up-to-date and accurate information about issues of concern to people with disabilities.
  • Maine Ombudsman
    An Ombudsman is a specially trained advocate who is given authority under federal and Maine law to investigate and resolve complaints made by, or on behalf of, long-term care consumers. This could include the consumer themselves, a friend or relative of the consumer, or the consumer's caregiver.
  • Disability Rights Center of Maine
    DRC's mission is to enhance and promote the equality, self-determination, independence, productivity, integration and inclusion of people with disabilities through education, strategic advocacy and legal intervention.
  • Maine Developmental Disabilities Council
    Maine Developmental Disabilities Council is a partnership of people with developmental disabilities, family members, and state and local agencies and organizations. They work together to bring about the necessary changes to achieve self-determination and independence for persons with developmental disabilities, and full inclusion in their communities of choice.

State Agencies

  • Maine Office of Elder and Adult Services
    Located in the Maine Department of Human Services, BEAS promotes programs and services for older adults, their families and for people with disabilities.
  • Maine Department of Health and Human Services
    The Maine Department of Health and Human Services is the portal from which you will find out all you need to know about services to children and adults in the state of Maine. This includes Behavioral and Developmental services, Healthcare, Elder Services, and Financial Assistance, as well as a great deal more.

  • Fontaine Law
    The Law office of Donald F. Fontaine is the recognized leader in the field of Wage and Hour Law. Unions, other attorneys, and employees in Maine and from other states call on the firm regularly for its expertise in disputes about unpaid wages, overtime pay, illegal firings, discrimination, and all kinds of unfair treatment of employees.

    Pine Tree Legal Assistance provides free legal services to low income people across the state of Maine.
  • Disability Rights Center of Maine

  • Legal Services for the Elderly
    We provide free, high quality legal services to Maine's socially and economically needy elderly age 60 and over. This site contains information about Legal Services for the Elderly, our staff and the ways we may be able to help you. It also contains client education materials which we hope you will find helpful. Finally, this site contains links to other organizations which also may be able to help you.
  • Maine Equal Justice Foundation
    We are the Maine Equal Justice Partners (MEJP). We work in the legislature, before administrative agencies and in the courts, providing legal and policy analysis, to give low-income Maine people an effective voice on issues they care about.
