The Maine Personal Assistance Services Association, Maine PASA, is Maine’s only professional association for people employed in the front line CNA, PSS, PA and other direct care and support jobs in long term care and health services. We are seeking a dynamic person to help lead this growing organization in its mission to involve and develop people committed to quality care and support for elders and people with disabilities. Maine PASA is an incorporated 501c(3) non-profit organization that currently serves a statewide membership of over 850 and is affiliated with numerous state and national initiatives dedicated to building a workforce in valued jobs that will ensure quality services for elders and people with disabilities. We are seeking an Executive Director with knowledge and experience in managing a growing non-profit organization who has insights into Maine PASA’s mission (www.mainepasa.org) and its members.
The Executive Director performs a wide range of administrative activities related to the operation, management and sustainability of Maine PASA programs and budget, and reports to the Board of Directors. Qualifications Requested: The Executive Director needs demonstrated knowledge and experience in project management and work with non-profit organizations that includes financial management, written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience in direct care, direct support and/or personal assistance work is required. Computer skills for internet, database, wordprocessing and spreadsheets applications; demonstrated resourcefulness in finding and securing support for organizational mission and activities; experience working with a diverse range of people and organizations; interest in building capacity in other people; a valid Maine drivers license and a willingness to use their personal vehicle in the course of employment are necessary. Media relations, publications, grant administration experience and familiarity with Maine’s long-term care system, legislative and policy processes are strongly preferred.

Maine PASA Executive Director Job Description: The Executive Director performs a wide range of administrative activities related to the operation, management and sustainability of Maine PASA. These activities are performed under the direction of the Board of Directors and include mission, project and budget management, production and distribution of the newsletter, management of the website, membership development and promotions, internal and external relations with stakeholders, fund raising, project and event development and management that engages members, office management and other activities that support effective business operations. The Executive Director facilitates the development of local chapters to serve member interests and the Maine PASA mission to build opportunities and recognition and promote professionalism. The Executive Director reports to the Board on operations and financial activities, assists the Board in planning and policy matters and recommends new services and programs in response to member requests and needs. In external activities the Executive Director represents Maine PASA’s interests, builds sound public relations, establishes and sustains working relationships that support the engagement of members in policy and program areas, and positions Maine PASA for involvement and opportunities to fulfill the mission.
Job Responsibilities:
Directs the implementation of goals, purposes, objectives, policies and procedures in consultation with the Board of Directors.
Develops and implements organizational plans, programs and administrative activities, ensures coordination of internal and external relations.
Facilitates the development of local Chapters and member leadership and oversees their activities.
Maintains organization records.
Reports to the Board on financial, staffing, program and other administrative activities.
Provides leadership for Maine PASA’s mission by participating in policy, program, coalition, partnerships and legislative groups. These may include advocacy, as agreed by the Board.
Recruits and supervises volunteers/ staff with assurance for confidentiality of member information.
Assists the Board Executive Committee in the preparation of the annual budget and seeks approval of any modifications and transfers monitors accounting systems, audits of accounts and internal control methods; maintains fiscal accountability; reviews and approves accounts payable, payroll and other financial matters
Oversees the production and distribution of the Maine PASA newsletter.
Oversees the content and development of the Maine PASA website.
Oversees the operation of the website worker listing program (Maine PASA Connections).
Oversees the work activities and reporting for grant and contract work.
Researches and recommends the services and products of outside vendors such as business insurance, office and equipment rentals and purchase, office supplies and furnishings, and legal or other advisory/support services.
Identifies public relations opportunities and works with the Board committees to oversee initiatives.
Identifies and writes fund raising grants/applications with Board approval and assistance.
Participates in state, regional and national programs relevant to the Maine PASA mission.
Mentors members to build their leadership skills and experiences.
Other duties as assigned.
