The Maine Personal Assistance Services Association believes that direct care and support are professions that ensure the highest quality of life for elders and people with disabilities, and is committed to supporting front-line direct care, direct support, and personal assistance workers by providing opportunities for networking, advocacy, training and development.

What is Maine PASA?

Maine PASA is a professional association and member organization for direct care, direct support and personal assistants — the front-line workers who support people with disabilities and elders. Maine PASA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that supports the direct services workforce and is not a collective bargaining entity (union).

Who are our members?

  • people employed in direct care, direct support and personal assistance work (CNA, PSS, PCA, DSP, PA, BHP, MHRT, HHA, life skills coach, homemaker, and other frontline titles) to assist elders and people with disabilities;
  • the employers, consumers, co-workers and others who recognize the value of dedicated and capable caregivers, aides and personal assistants; and
  • our Board.

What are the goals of Maine PASA's programs and activities?

  • Build Recognition: To raise the awareness in public, employment, and policy settings about the value of direct care, direct support and personal assistance work and workers.
  • Build Opportunities: To provide opportunities for workers to network, to build connections, to participate, and to gain knowledge and skills to attain personal and professional goals.
  • Promote Professionalism: To advocate for quality jobs and to promote quality direct service with dignity and consumer choice.
